Walton "Pug" Charlie Johnson

Walton ‘Pug’ Johnson, 70, of Brunswick, passed away on Thursday May 3, 2012. A funeral service with military honors will be held on Monday May 7, 2012 at 11am in the chapel at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Reverend Michael Gibbs and Reverend Greg Weaver officiating. Interment will follow at Palmetto Cemetery. The family will receive friends the evening before on Sunday May 6, 2012 from 4pm-6pm at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.

A lifelong resident of Brunswick, Pug was born to the late Lola Margaret Harris Johnson and the late Edwin Walton Johnson in 1942. After graduating from Glynn Academy, he served his country in the US Air Force. Mr. Johnson also worked for and retired from Georgia Pacific. He loved to work in his garden growing fruits, vegetables, and flowers, and he also enjoyed woodworking.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Johnson is preceded in death by three brothers, Sam Johnson, Jerry Johnson, and Gene Johnson.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn “Peachy” Johnson; A son, Charlie Johnson (Lynn); Two daughters Jenny Gibbs (D.J.) and Margie Johnson (Craig Flowers) all of Brunswick; Seven grandchildren, CJ Johnson, Lindsay Johnson, Austin Bell, Kelsee Johnson, Avery Bell, Taylor Johnson, and Chandler Strean; One great grandson, Colin Willis; and four sisters, Rosalie Turner of St. Augustine, FL, Evelyn Brockington of Jesup, GA, Linda Pate of Atkinson, GA and Lolita Starling(Jimmy) of Jesup, GA; and several nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be Roger Johnson, Kenny Crum, CJ Johnson, Austin Bell, Avery Bell, and Chandler Strean. Honorary Pallbearers are former GA Pacific carpenter/paint shop co-workers, Dr. Astor Lim and staff, The 5th floor medical staff at Southeast Georgia Health System, Craig Flowers, and Donna Green.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in Pug’s memory to the Pine Ridge Baptist Church Youth Group, 15 Nimitz Dr, Brunswick, GA 31520.
