Tom Schneider

Tom Schneider, 59, of Brunswick, died Sunday, December 29, 2013, at Hospice of the Golden Isles. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 3, 2014 at First United Methodist Church of Brunswick at 10:30 AM with Rev. Jay Hanson and Rev. John Schneider officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dean Bracewell, Davey Covey, Kevin Diestel, Paul Medders, Owen Rogers, and Mark Stoklosa. Interment will follow at 3:30 PM in McClellanville United Methodist Cemetery, McClellanville, SC, Friday afternoon.

Born April 25, 1954 in Ann Arbor, Michigan to John H. and Nona R. Schneider, he was a retired educator from the Glynn County School System, having taught at Glynn Academy for 30 years. He had been a resident of Glynn County since 1979 and attended First United Methodist Church of Brunswick and The Chapel. Mr. Schneider was an avid golfer and also worked at The Learning Center at Sea Island.

Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Claudia Mason Schneider of Brunswick and a son, Mason Paul Schneider of Brunswick. He is also survived by his father, John Schneider and wife Jane of Ann Arbor, MI; a brother, John Schneider (Deb) of Howell, MI; three sisters, Joanne Navarre (Gerry) of Dexter, MI; Lynne Schneider of Montgomery, AL; and Kim Schneider of St. Paul, MN; two brothers-in-law, Jack Mason, Jr. (Candice) of Brunswick and David Mason (Tyffany) of Denton, TX; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Nona R. Schneider.

The family will receive friends in the Welcome Center at First United Methodist Church of Brunswick from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 2, 2014.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of The Golden Isles, The Chapel, and Brunswick First United Methodist Church.
