Theresa Arlene Hall Chapman, 79, of Brunswick, died Thursday, February 3, 2011 at SGHS Brunswick Campus. Funeral services will be held 11AM Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at Taylors United Methodist Church with Rev. Whit Kirkland officiating. Interment will follow in Palmetto Cemetery with Wesley Ackerman, Doug Maulden, Chris Maulden, Kenny Galog, Dallas Whitted, and Jody Grimes serving as pallbearers.
Born March 21, 1931 in Glynn County, Georgia to the late Alvin Hall and Nora Marie Davis McDowell, she was a graduate of Glynn Academy Class of 1949. She retired from Brunswick Manufacturing and from Wal-Mart. She was a member of Taylors United Methodist Church where she was a member of The Fidelis Sunday School Class, served on the Mission and Evangelism Committee and was also a church greeter. She was a emeritus member of OES Neptune Chapter, and Retirees from Brunswick Manufacturing. Mrs. Chapman was a lifelong resident of Glynn County and enjoyed riding motorcycles in her young adult life. She later enjoyed sewing and gardening. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James Christopher Chapman, a daughter, Jody Ann Chapman, three brothers James A. McDowell, Howard McDowell, Jr., and Elmer McDowell, and one sister, Mildred Diestel.
Survivors include three daughters, Jamilene C. Maulden and husband Doug of Brunswick, Katherine A. Rogers and husband Pierce of Reidsville, Joyce E. Whitted and husband Dallas of Canton, two grandchildren, Christopher Daniel Maulden and Rachel Nicole Whitted, a brother, Joseph Grimes and wife Peggy of Waynesville, two sisters Arlene Bishop Dixon of Brunswick, and, Bertha Ackerman Hansen of Ketchikan, Alaska.
The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6PM until 8 PM at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Taylors United Methodist Church. www.edomillerandsons.com
