As the true matriarch of the family, she was always handwriting letters to her loved ones sharing what she valued in life while being generous with praise. Penning letters kept her in touch while she lived in a number of US states as well as traveling the world with her husband – even living in Mexico.
Her attitude towards life, combined with her energy pursuing her many interests, kept her young at heart and healthy. She, along with her two sons, was an accomplished water skier. She loved being outdoors and near water. However, her main athletic passion was golf, garnering her the prestigious title of Past President of the Georgia Women’s Golf Association.
She was a stylish woman who loved creating an inviting home and an enviable garden. She was a wonderful decorator and loved to entertain. Polly was a fabulous cook and well known for her “Granny Tea” which is made by many members of her family. Roses were her favorite flower and her rose bushes were stunning. Her gift of tending to- and learning all about roses - earned her the role of Past President of the Georgia Rose Society, Brunswick Chapter. The rose, a timeless and beloved flower, with their beauty and versatility symbolizing feelings such as love, friendship and admiration sums up Polly perfectly.
Polly will be remembered as an elegant yet strong, compassionate yet resolute, exuberant yet practical, wife, mother, grandmother and friend whose love and loyalty was fierce and unconditional.
