We were lucky enough to move into the house across the street from Nelson after moving in from out of state.   My wife and I could hear what sounded like live music and narrowed it down to his house.  Finally getting up the nerve to walk up and introduce ourselves, we found one of the most kind hearted friends we could have anticipated.  Nelson always wanted me to play guitar with him, which I usually declined because to be honest, he was way better then myself.  Through the years I always enjoyed going up, hanging out and having some of the best conversations that I can remember.  My wife knew that usually, that meant at least an hour or more until I would finally come home.   Nelson loved his family which was one of the topics he always bragged about.  He always treated me and my family like his and for that I will always be grateful.  He was a true friend and someone our family loved to see and could count on.  I consider us lucky to have won the “lottery” moving in across from him and cherish the friendship that developed.  He made our world a better place and will truly be missed.

Ann and I are saddened by the sudden passing of a good man. I remember playing baseball in the lot next to his house on Payne Street. We grew up together on Payne Street and had many good times.  We were just getting reacquainted at his home in Brunswick and really enjoying his company. Nelson had made friends with a pair of geese that came to visit him every evening before heading off for the night. He also had a raccoon that visited. I like thinking of him this way, a care giver in every way.  Love to his family in this sad time. Doug and Ann Evans

Nelson will be missed, but he’s in great hands with family and friends waiting for him. I’m sure he’s already hooked up with “Boy”. Rest now Nelson.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr.Ennis in elementary school. He was the best Girl Scout leader any troop could ever have! On this one trip..he called me “Granny” and that has been my name ever since! Mr .Ennis was so kind and sweet! He always smiled and was just a “joy”to be around! I’m so blessed for all the memories I have of him! This angel will truly be missed...

I knew Nelson since 2008, and could call on him at any moment and he would be there.  I enjoyed the visits to his home, playing with his fur babies and catching up on the latest events.  I know he loved his family with all that he was.  He will truly be missed.  

I will always cherish the fact that I knew Nelson. He was an amazing gentleman.  Heaven truly gained an angel. 


I got to know Mr. Ennis as I was friends with his son Mark and daughter Jennifer in high school and visited their home many times. He was a friendly man with a great sense of humor and I always enjoyed talking with him. He could play a mean guitar, too :). Rest easy with the Lord, Nelson.

We have so many wonderful memories of you,  our Southern friend! We will remember most your love of music  and your love of all critters great and small!

My friendship began with Nelson about 15 yrs ago. To me and surely to many others, Nelson was a “True Friend”. Thru the years hanging out in his Shop, we made so many good memories, and I knew it made his day when someone could stop by for while. 
 He was so committed to taking care of David and wife, he rarely relied on outside care. But every spring he really looked forward to our annual cookouts for him & his friends, and playing with the band sure did make him Happy!! Well I could go on but I’ve got many fun memories to reflect on. But only 2 sad days, one being the day he moved away to Ga. I know he can rest now and get some much need time to fish!! Lastly, Nelson gave me his boat years ago and I use it exclusively, as now I’ll treasure it even more!
