Mary Ann was born in Mason City, Iowa to parents Edward and Genevieve (Meritt) Nichols. She obtained a Bachelor’s in Art from Loretto Heights College in Denver, Colorado before joining the US Air Force. It was at Greenville Air Force base in Mississippi where she met fellow airman, Gayle Edward Rogers. The couple were married in 1964 and later transferred to MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida. Mary Ann received an honorable discharge at the rank of 1st Lt. in 1966. She was a gifted artist and was of the Catholic faith.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Dean Rogers (Daphne) of Brunswick and Clay Rogers (Stacey) of Wiesbaden, Germany; a grandson, Nicholas Rogers of Brunswick and a niece, Nicole Mecum (Ed) of Washington State.
A private, family service with military honors is set for Thursday.
