Judy was born in Tifton, Georgia on March 2nd, 1937 to Harmon Spooner Greene and Mattie Laura Dixon Greene Selph. She had been a resident of Brunswick for over 50 years, and married the love of her life, Larry B. Morris, Sr. on May 28th, 1955 after graduating from Glynn Academy the night before. She was predeceased by Larry after 52 years of marriage, as well as her parents, and siblings Elizabeth Ann Greene Willis and Leander (Lee) Evans Greene.
Judy retired from a managerial position with Southern Bell/AT&T after 30 years of service, and after retirement worked part time for the Glynn County Board of Education. She was a volunteer with the Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick, as well as a member of the Southern Bell Pioneers. She enjoyed reading, cooking, shopping, and being with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren. She was much loved by family and many friends. She will be greatly missed and remembered for her caring personality, friendliness, and beautiful smile.
She was an active member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Brunswick for many years, and its Sojourner’s Sunday School Class.
Survivors are her son, Larry B. Morris, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Meg Tullis Morris of Brunswick, three grandchildren, Molly Morris, Lawson Morris and Logan Morris, a brother, William Burton “Bo” Greene of Brunswick, a sister, Mattie Blanch Grier and husband Ellis of Black Creek, GA, sisters-in-law, Ellen Crews, Angie Morris, and Louise Morris of Brunswick, Laura Riley and husband Phil of Fort Lauderdale, FL, brother-in-law, Bud O'Neal of Centre, Alabama, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Judy’s life will begin with a time of visitation from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday 3/6/12 at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 1 o’clock Wednesday 3/7/12 at Calvary Baptist Church with Dr. Larry Boyette officiating. Interment will be held in Brunswick Memorial Park along side of her beloved husband. Mrs. Morris will lie in state in the church one hour before the service.
Active pallbearers will be her nephews, Randy Crews, Mark Filipek, Burt Greene, Jamie Greene, Rickey Greene, Robert Greene, Chris Grier, Scott Grier, Marshall Morris, Danny O’Neal, Kelly O’Neal, Luther O’Neal, Michael O’Neal, Josh Riley, and Roy Allen Willis.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Sojourner’s Sunday School Class of Calvary Baptist Church.
The family greatly appreciates the care given to Judy during her illness by Home Instead Senior Care, Fairhaven, Hospice of the Golden Isles, and her devoted loving caregiver, Mrs. Eloise Smith. The family request those wishing may make contributions to the Sojourner’s Sunday School Class at Calvary Baptist Church and/or Hospice of the Golden Isles.
