He was born May 8, 1938 in Hiawassee, Georgia, the first of six children, to Rome B. and Lou Gene Maney. He left Georgia in 1955 to live in Lima, Ohio, and returned to Georgia in 2016. He retired in 2000 from being and independent sales representative for several carpet manufacturers. Mr. Maney enjoyed woodworking, pine straw basket weaving,raising, riding and showing horses, as well as canines, and antique cars. He was also an avid gardener and spent many hours on his tractor mowing and manicuring his yard. Knox was preceded in death by his son, David Knox Maney, his mother and father, a brother Charles Lee Maney and, best friend, Garry Prator.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Jo Ann Braden Maney, a daughter, Leasa Jo and husband Lewis W. Sandridge of Waverly, a grandson, William Knox Sandridge of Valdosta, and siblings, Rosella (Gary) Tope, Zura Lynn (Mike) Boyd, Roma Jean Gardner, and Ruby Gail Bodin all of Ohio.
A visitation will be Saturday, December 16, 2023 from 1 pm until 3 pm with a Celebration of Life beginning at 3 pm at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. A private burial will be in Canton, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Golden Isles, or Memory Matters Glynn.
