James G. Turner, 88, of Brunswick, GA, passed away April 18, 2024. He has finally been reunited with his wife, Shirley Tillman Jenkins, who preceded him in death in December, 2014. They were married 54 years.
James was born March 28, 1936 in Carrsville, VA to Sam W. Turner and Lelia May Copeland Turner. He married Shirley Tillman Jenkins, August 14, 1955.
On August 31, 1956 he joined the Army and was an anti-aircraft gunner, stationed in Chicago, Illinois.
James and Shirley moved to Brunswick in 1962, where he worked at the Mill for several years before starting his own business, Discount Auto Sales. He was owner/operator and Shirley worked alongside him doing the titles. There he got the nickname, “Mr. Jimmy” from those that knew him.
He is survived by his two sons, Michael and Jimmy, their spouses, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren, Sawyer Grayson and Joshua Monroe.
During James and Shirley’s last years together, they enjoyed traveling to National Parks, Casinos and taking cruises.
A celebration of life for James will be held Saturday, May 11, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home, 3321 Glynn Ave, Brunswick, GA 31520. www.edomillerandsons.com.
