James B. Page, Sr. 86, of Brunswick, passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at Hospice of the Golden Isles. Funeral Services will be held Friday, August 27, 2010 at 11 am in the Chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Webb officiating. Interment will follow in Palmetto Cemetery. Randy Jackson, Larry Jackson, Vernon Jackson, Charles Bartlett, Michael McKenzie, and Jay Page will serve as active pallbearers. Brunswick Pulp and Paper Retirees and the Three T’s Sunday School Class of Blythe Island Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Mr. Page was born on March 4, 1924 in Toombs County to the late James Jacob and late Lucile Baggett Page. He moved from Vidalia to Brunswick at an early age, where he attended and graduated from Glynn Academy in 1946. Mr. Page was a WWII veteran in the U.S. Navy. He retired from Brunswick Pulp and Paper as a meter mechanic and was also an active member of the Blythe Island Baptist Church.
Mr. Page is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Dorothy J. Page; a son, Jim Page, Jr. (wife Tammy); a daughter, Lucy P. Wiggins (husband Johnnie) all of Brunswick; two granddaughters, Trina Garner (husband Mark) of Glenn St. Mary, FL and Jennifer Newman (husband Matthew) of Alpharetta, GA; a grandson, Jay Page III of Stafford VA; two great-grandsons, J.P. Page IV and Matthew Garner; a great-granddaughter Heather Garner; a half-brother, James J. Page (wife Catherine) of Lady Lake, FL; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial may be made to Hospice of the Golden Isles at 1692 Glynco Parkway Brunswick, Georgia 31525.
The family will receive friends Thursday, August 26, 2010 from 6 to 8 pm at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.
