Frances Ellen Scott

Frances Ellen Scott, 74, of Brunswick, Georgia passed away Friday, February 2, 2018 at South East Georgia Health Systems. A native of Salisbury, Maryland, she had been a resident of Brunswick, Georgia for the past 60 years. Born August 13, 1943, Mrs. Scott was the daughter of the late James Elijah Gordy and the late Lillian Marie Underwood. Mrs. Scott was a graduate of Glynn Academy. She was employed with Belk Hudson for many years and she was also a self-employed seamstress. Mrs. Scott attended Bay Harbour Church of God. She enjoyed sewing crafts, traveling and was an avid movie goer. She leaves many fond memories that will be cherished by all.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Scott was preceded in death by her daughter Sandra Jean Dowling.

Survivors include her husband Willie Joe Scott, SR of Brunswick, Georgia; two sons Willie Joe Scott, JR and James Scott both of Brunswick, GA; two daughters Sherri Walker of Jesup, GA and Melissa Newbern of Brunswick, GA; Sister Norma Williams (Richard) of Vidalia, GA; brother Charles Gordy (Cathy) of Brunswick, GA; 11 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to a visitation with the Scott family from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM Thursday the 8th of February 2018 at Bay Harbour Church of God.

A funeral service is to be conducted 11:00 AM Friday the 9th of February at Bay Harbour Church of God where Reverend Jimmy Walden and Reverend Bruce Miller are to officiate. Burial will follow with a funeral cortege to Brunswick Memorial Park Cemetery where Mrs. Scott will be laid to rest.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Jamie Gordy, Chris Geren, Josh Sexton, James “Skeeter” Robbins, and Charlie Williamson.

Honorary pallbearers are Richard “Tic” Finney and Daniel Finney.
