Dorothy Davis Mosley was born June 22, 1928. She is the twin sister of Doris Cox, who predeceased her in 1967, at age 36. She was married to the late Brooks Mosley for 48 years upon his death in 2010.
Dorothy is survived by her three sons, Carroll Cox (Dorothy), Eddie Cox (Patricia) and Ben Mosley (Madonna). She is also survived by her grandchildren: Terri Ghattas, Andy Cox, Gege Nettles (Neil), Howard Cox (Jessica), Bonnie Dent (Gerald), and Wendee Kenedy (DeWayne) all of Brunswick, Georgia, Chastity Howard, (Adam) of Vermont.
Grandchildren: Logan Nettles, Skyler Nettles (Gloria), Brandon Ghattas, Elise Ghattas, Marshall Cox, McKenzie Cox, Lina Cox, David Cox, Madison Blanton, Chamberlain Dent, Alina Dent, Jack Darrin Kennedy, Isabelle Kennedy, Gracee, and Mary Margaret Kennedy, and Rhett Howard.
Dorothy was born to Rev. Lloyd and Aleen Davis. She had 10 siblings: J C Davis, B.W Davis, Merle Davis, Melvin Davis, Sallie Mae Cox, Doris Cox, Mary Chasteen, Lloyd H Davis, Jr. and Robert Davis. She was predeceased by all including her husband, Brooks. She is survived by Janice Prescott of Nahunta, Ga.
She is described by her son, Carroll, as a very strong individual and reminded him of the book, Tom Brokaw wrote: “The Greatest Generation”. She came up through hard times in the depression. She worked at the shipyard during World War II.
In her younger days, she was always active in school functions such as football and baseball, carpools with the 6 boys. All the boys were raised on B & W Grade Road.
Dorothy and Brooks were always giving and helping others in life.
She had a tremendous ZEAL FOR LIFE.
In later years, her favorite daily question was “WHERE ARE WE GOING?”
Both of her sons are active in the church. She was a great fan of Jimmy Swaggart.
She was a devoted Mother and wife and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Her family will have many fond memories to cherish for years to come.
Friends are cordially invited to visitation from 6-8 pm at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home on Monday July 31, 2017.
The funeral will be held at New Life Sanctuary at 11:00 am on August 1, 2017 and interment will be at Palmetto Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her Great Grandchildren: Brandon Ghattas, Elise Ghattas, Lina Cox, Marshall Cox, Mckenzie Cox, Chamberlin Dent and Jack Darrin Kennedy.
