Nov. 7, 1923 - Feb. 26, 2024 - Christine Jobe Wilson passed away peacefully of natural causes at the home of her daughter, Sherry Rowell in Dallas, GA on Monday. She was a longtime resident of St. Simons Island, GA and native of Tennessee. She is predeceased by her parents Hubert and Rachel Jobe, her husband of 67 years Jack E. Wilson (Lt. Col. ret. USAF) and her son John Robert Wilson. Surviving her are her children, Sherry Rowell (Jimmy) of Dallas, GA and Mike Wilson (Ann) of St. Simons Island, GA , her grandchildren Kristen Boyce (Bobby) of Houston, TX, Megan Thomas (Jayme) of Panama City, FL, Austin Wilson of SSI, GA , Taylor Wilson Tailer (Jeff) of Brunswick, GA and her great-grandchildren Andrew and Jack Boyce of Houston TX, Ava, Vann and Jasmine Thomas of Panama City, FL and Riley Tailer of Brunswick, GA. She graduated from Bells High School in Bells TN, and attended Rollins College as a Nutrition major in Winter Park, FL, where she met her husband, a young Lieutenant on R&R at the end of WWII. While serving as a military wife for 25 years, she volunteered extensively for the Red Cross, various schools and Protestant Women of the Church and had the opportunity to travel the world. After retirement she assisted her husband and children in founding Wilson-Wyllie Ent., Inc. and worked tirelessly alongside them establishing the retail businesses.
She was a loving devoted wife, mother, Nana and Mama Chris and will be missed by all who knew her. Her hobbies were traveling, gardening, entertaining, sewing, painting and especially golf and her little dogs. But her greatest joy came from her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who loved her dearly and cannot imagine a world without her.
Visitation will be held at Edo Miller Funeral Home, 3321 Glynn Ave., Brunswick, GA on Sunday, March 3rd from 3:00 – 5:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at Oglethorpe Memorial Gardens, 5775 Frederica Rd., SSI, GA at 10:00 AM on Monday, March 4th.
In lieu of flowers she has requested donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Wounded Warrior Project.
