April 30,1930-September 6, 2023
Charlotte Gale Miller, a native of Glynn County, passed away after an extended illness on September 6, 2023.
Born and raised in Brunswick, Charlotte attended Glynn Academy and, following high school graduation, attended the University of Georgia where she became and remained a Bull Dawgs fan until her death, and probably eternally. Prior to graduating from UGA, Charlotte decided to enlist in the Women’s Air Corps which is how she met her future and forever husband, Herbert Miller. Together they raised four children and lived many places and on many bases until Major’s Miller’s death in 1971, when the Miller family became full time residents of Glynn County.
Charlotte volunteered many hours at the Brunswick Hospital coordinating the “Candy Stripers”, later becoming the local Director of the American Red Cross. As a lifelong Conservative she joined the campaign for Mack Mattingly for United States Senate, and upon victory of the campaign spent the next five years as Senator Mattingly’s Executive Assistant in Washington D.C. After her stint as a public servant Charlotte moved back to Glynn County and became a licensed Real Estate agent until she retired.
Charlotte is survived by her brother William H. Stewart (Lynn), her children Druanne Miller Van Dora (Tash), Robin Gale Miller, Jane Miller Dulaney, Herber Miller Jr., six grandchildren: Jeremiah Van Dora, Charlotte Danielle Miller Lewis, Anna Catherine Beerman, Tash Miller Van Dora, Lelaina Diane Miller, and Cameron Zachary Miller and six beautiful great grandchildren and dozens of nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss her greatly.
Graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 10:00a.m. at Palmetto Cemetery and all who knew, and loved Charlotte are welcome to attend.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.edomillerandsons.com for the Miller family.
