Carolyn Ridgeway Brown, 69, of Brunswick, died Wednesday, October 20, 2010, at Senior Care Center in Brunswick. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, October 23, 2010, at First Baptist Church of Brunswick with Dr. Neal Cordell officiating. Pallbearers will be Russell Rozier, Rod Brown, Johnny Harrison, Jimmy Humphrey, Robert Griffin, and Johnny Wiggins. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Good News Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church. Interment will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, October 25, 2010, at Woodlawn Cemetery in Greenville, SC.
Born in Greenville, South Carolina on August 1, 1941, to the late Wade Hampton and Pearl Edith McKee Ridgeway, she was a retired educator. Mrs. Brown was a graduate of Columbia College where she received a BA in English. She taught in the Glynn County Public School System for 32 years and has been a resident of Glynn County since 1966. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Good News Sunday School Class. Mrs. Brown was also a member of Christian Women’s Club and Glynn County Retired Educators Association. She enjoyed dining out and fellowship with friends after her retirement. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Ridgeway.
Survivors include a son, Al Brown, Jr. of Brunswick, two nephews, Todd Ridgeway of Charlotte, North Carolina and Dennis Ridgeway of Greenville, South Carolina.
The family will receive friends Friday evening, October 22, 2010, from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home in Brunswick, and Monday, October 25, 2010 from 12:30 P.M. until 1:30 P.M. at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Greenville, SC.
