Tomas Perez Jr.

Tomas Perez Jr, 88 of Brownsville, Texas entered into eternal rest on Wednesday October 31, 2018. Tomas was born October 29, 1930 to Antonia Carrasco Perez and Tomas Perez, Sr. in Premont, Texas. After a very happy and creative childhood, he proudly served in the U.S. Air Force. He later graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Art from Texas A & I. He married the love of his life in 1955. In 1958 they moved to Brownsville to teach with BISD where he taught for 36 years. His many other jobs included teaching Adult Education, bookkeeper at the Cotton Gin and umpiring Little League. He was a Sports enthusiast. Over everything his favorite past time was being with his family especially his grandchildren. All that knew him knew that he was always ready to share a good story.

Tomas is survived by daughters Leticia (David+) Garcia; Nora (Joe) Garcia; son Tomas (Nora) Perez III; and son-in-law Rene (Cecilia+) Salas; sister Estefanita (Felicitos) Garza of Premont; grandchildren David Garcia Jr., Clarissa Garcia, Michael (Laura) Salas, Amanda (Steven) Reyna, Rebecca Garcia, Tomas Perez IV, Gina Garcia, Sarah Perez. Great grandchildren Angelina Garcia, David Garcia III, Ezekiel Peña and Ethan Peña.

Tomas was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years Santos Alcala Perez; daughter Cecilia Perez Salas and son-in-law David R. Garcia; father Tomas Perez, Sr. and mother Antonia Carrasco Perez; 5 Brothers and 1 sister.

A visitation for Tomas will be held Sunday, November 4, 2018 from 1:00 PM to 11:00 PM with a rosary at 7:00 PM at Funeraria del Angel Buena Vista, 125 Mcdavitt Blvd. A funeral mass will occur Monday, November 5, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Lord of Divine Mercy, 650 E. Alton Gloor Blvd. A burial will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.

Serving as pallbearers are Tomas Perez IV, Michael Salas, David Garcia Jr., Rene Salas, Joe Garcia, Steven Reyna, David R. Garcia III and Ezekiel Peña (Honorary).
