Our beloved Rosie was a loving wife mother, grandmother and friend who enjoyed spending time with her family, playing solitaire and crossword puzzles on her phone. She was a dedicated paraprofessional for over 30 years at Vermillion Elementary. A warrior who bravely battled breast cancer for many years and never lost her beautiful smile or spunky spirit. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her especially her loving husband of 48 years and her family.
Rosa is survived by her husband of 48 years, Juan Velez III; her daughter Maria Lourdes Rodriguez (Ricardo); her son Juan Carlos Velez (San Juanita); and her daughter Veronica Martinez (Oscar).
Rosa was preceded in death by her mother Rosa Maria Perales and her father Roberto Perales Sr.; her sister Sylvia Perales.
Rosa P. Velez also leaves behind 10 grandchildren Alondra, Maria Belen, Jacob, Selena, Bethany, Jeremy, Jasmine, Jared, Juan Diego, Jocelyn,11 siblings, numerous nieces and nephews to cherish her memory.
A visitation for Rosa will be held Sunday, March 19, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a rosary at 7:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Rose Lawn, 4464 Old Port Isabel Rd., Brownsville, TX., 78526. A mass will occur Monday, March 20, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 1218 E. Jefferson St., Brownsville, TX., 78520 followed by a burial at 11:00 AM at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4464 Old Port Isabel Rd., Brownsville, TX., 78526.
Serving as pallbearers are Juan Carlos Velez, David De La Cruz, Maria Belen Cervera, Mauricio Martinez, Jacob N. Rodriguez, Selena Rose Cervera, Jeremy Velez, Juan Diego Velez, Ricardo Rodriguez (honorary) and Jared Rodriguez (honorary).
