Roberto (Bobby) Ruiz Jr was born on January 19, 1944. He was a lifelong resident of Brownsville, Texas.
Bobby was a doting grandfather to his three beautiful granddaughters, who he loved with all his heart. He was a 1962 graduate of Brownsville High School. His compassion to help others got him into charity work. He was a longtime member of the Brownsville Jaycees, and a lifetime member of the Brownsville Elks Lodge #1032. He also enjoyed working with the youth of his community, thus, he was a longtime West Brownsville Little League baseball coach. A devout catholic, he was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. After his retirement, he did what he loved most, play golf, so he took a job at the Fort Brown Memorial Golf Course and worked there until it's closure
He is preceded in death by his wife, Antonia L. Ruiz. His parents, Roberto and Anita Ruiz Barrera, his sisters, Maria Olga Lopez and Hortencia (Tenny) Nugent.
Those left to cherish his memory are his two children Carlos (Charlie) Ruiz, and Melissa Olvera (Alvino Jr.), his sister, Anita Anzaldua (Oscar), his three granddaughters, Toni Ruiz, Alissa Olvera, and Satya Olvera. His longtime devoted companion, Cathy Duffield, numerous nieces and nephews and all his friends who he loved deeply.
In Lieu of flowers, donation may be made to Driscoll Children's Hospital in Brownsville, Tx.
Celebration of life services will be held on Monday, December 16, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a Chapel Service at 6 pm and a Rosary at 7 pm in Chapel of Peace, at Funeraria del Angel Buena Vista, 125 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, Texas 78521.
