La Reyna (Queenie) of the Ramirez Family, Maria De La Luz Ramirez, has taken flight to Heaven. She was summoned home by Jesus Christ on May 29, 2024 at 1:42 AM. While the nightly thunder and lightning threatened her departure, this strong faithful Catholic daughter would not be deferred and made her flight to Heaven as scheduled by our Lord Jesus Christ.
Maria De La Luz Ramirez was the strongest woman anyone could ever meet, however, she more importantly was a loving, nurturing, and giving person. Born on a farm alongside several siblings, she learned to work hard which gave her the foundation in raising her children to be strong and independent. As a Catholic and Christian and parishioner of St. Luke's Catholic Church, God was first in her life, her devotion to God was paramount and she never lost faith in her Father above. As a mother, she lived for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her favorite hobby was drinking great amount of coffee daily with her sweet little pastries. Beep! Beep! She would say when she "Quero Cappuccino." She was an avid gardener and preferred lawn mowers and machetes over pearls and dresses. Stories of her escapades, attempting to cut down a 20 foot tree with a machete and a butter knife, are still being spoken about today. Maria De La Luz Ramirez saw everyone else grow old around her, especially her children, but not her. She was just as strong willed and powerful at the time of her passing as she was on the day of her birth. She will be missed greatly by her family and friends and while the world's light has dimmed, in Heaven they have a bright new angel. She will be forever loved and missed.
Maria De La Luz Ramirez was born on September 1, 1927 to Mrs. Trinidad Medrano and Mr. Santos Hernandez in Ejido El Longoreño in Matamoros, Tamps., Mexico. She is preceded in death by her husband Porfirio Ramirez, several sisters and brothers.
