Maria Elena Leal

A kind, loving and beautiful soul. Maria was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her warm smile and sense of humor were infectious and she was beloved by those that knew her. She will be sorely missed and remembered as the wonderful person she was.

"He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away" Revelation 21:4

She is preceded in death by parents Miguel Mercado, Margarita Yañez, Magdaleno Yañez and Victoriana (Teresa) Chavez, siblings Miguel Mercado, Faustino Mercado and Luis Mercado.

She is survived by her husband Sergio Leal, children; Sergio Leal Jr. Michelle Leal and Amy Leal-Alvarado, grandchildren; Giovanni A. Lopez, Christopher X. Lopez, Juan Carlos Alvarado III, Esteban M. Lopez and Juliana Calliope Alvarado, son-in-law J. C. Alvarado Jr..

She is also survived by 8 siblings and many nieces and nephews.

The pallbearers will be Sergio Leal, Sergio Leal Jr., J. C. Alvarado Jr., Giovanni Lopez, Christopher Lopez, Esteban Lopez, Juan Carlos Alvarado III, Omar Leal and Martin Mercado.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Mario Yañez, LeeRoy Garza, Pablo Mercado Sr. and Gilberto Leal Jr..

The visitation will be held Sunday, April 30, 2023 from 1pm - 12am with a rosary at 7pm in Chapel of Angels. A mass will be held Monday, May 1, 2023 at Immaculate Conception Cathedral at 2pm followed by the burial at Buena Vista Burial Park.
