Maria D. Flores

Maria was born on April 23, 1947, in Brownsville, TX, to Aurora (Martinez) and Jose Julio Rodriguez Sr. In August 1963, she married Genaro Flores, Sr. They raised three beautiful daughters, Maria, Graciela, and Claudia, and two handsome sons, Genaro Jr. and Tomas.

Her passions in life included loving and taking care of her family and rooting for many sport teams such as the Dallas Cowboys, the San Antonio Spurs, the Houston Astros, and the Texas Rangers. She loved to watch novellas, game shows on television, and being surrounded by her loved ones. She was also an avid magazine reader and word search puzzle extraordinaire. She was known for her witty jokes, her amazing, yet crazy, lotería luck, her fierce, compassionate, and amiable spirit, and most importantly, best known, for the love she gave her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was a force to be reckoned with. She was the warmth on a sick day, the butter on a freshly made tortilla, the stuffing on Thanksgiving Day, the atole on a cold, winter day, and the cheese to the crinkled fries.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Aurora†, her father, Jose Julio Sr.†, her husband, Genaro Sr.†, her child, Baby Boy Flores†, her brothers, Joe Louis†, Tomas Alfonso†, Rosalio Eleazar†, Felix Amos†, Jose Julio Jr. †, and Juan Roberto†, her sisters, Guadalupe Elena† and Maria de Jesus†, her son-in-law, Oscar Sr.†, her grandchildren, Baby Moreno† and Francisco IV†, and her great grandchild, Francisco V†. She is survived by her five children, Maria, Graciela, Claudia, Genaro Jr., and Tomas, her two son-in-laws, Frank and Rene, her two daughter-in-laws, Melissa and Olinka, her 14 grandchildren, in order, Raymond (Ana), Celina (Ricardo), Christopher, Oscar (Cassandra), Reggie, Phillip, April, Dillon, Brianna, Matthew, Gianna, Alexis, Adolfo Josue, and Aliyah, her 11 great grandchildren, in order, Jamie, Richard, Emmanuel, Jacqueline, Hailey, Arlene, Jaylinn, Jennalynn, Anastasia, Dominic, and Savannah, her sisters, Maria Luisa, Carolina Ema, and Aurora, several nieces and nephews, and great friends and neighbors.
