Mom was the strongest and most positive person we knew. She and our beloved father, Felipe H. Ramos Jr., were amazing role models who taught us to work hard and dream big. We will remember our mother for being selfless, caring and our biggest cheerleader.
She was born on August 13, 1945 in Brownsville. One of her proudest achievements was graduating from nursing school and becoming a licensed vocational nurse. For 57 years, she worked as a nurse at various institutions across the valley. It brought her great joy to heal her patients and soothe their pains. Whether as a mother, daughter, aunt, cousin, friend or nurse she brightened every room with her big brown eyes, warm heart and sweet words. She loved God and prayed often and her faith brought her serenity in challenging moments and gave her a strength of character that we all admired. She met our father, Felipe in November 1970 and they married in June 1971. They were married for 27 years until his passing in 1998. As a family, they enjoyed family cookouts, holiday gatherings and parties. Our parents provided so much stability and love in our lives. Every good quality and success in our lives is due to the both of them. We know that they are together again after all this time and that brings us comfort.
