Juan Alberto Gonzalez

Juan Alberto Gonzalez, was born on October 14, 1948, in El Paso, Texas. God called him to His kingdom at the age of 74 on July 19, 2023, in Brownsville, Texas. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and veteran of the Vietnam War with the United States Navy. He retired from the Immigration of Naturalization now known as the Department of Homeland Security. After retirement he enjoyed golfing, sports officiating, volunteering, and spending quality time with his family. He was an avid sports enthusiast, life of the party, and left his everlasting mark on all that knew him. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents Jose Soccoro Gonzalez† and Maria Guzman†, his sister Ofelia Barraza†, brothers Carlos Gonzalez†, and Miguel Gonzalez†, and great-grandchild Alaina Raphael†.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years Ida V. Gonzalez, children: Miranda Gonzalez, Kimberly Gamboa (Joseph), Jessica Gomez, Erik Gonzalez, and Vanessa Raphael (Joe), siblings: Socorro Jacquez (George), Evangelina Gonzalez, Armando Gonzalez (Rachel), Enrique Gonzalez, and Emma Ornelas (Tony), grandchildren Lilith, Damian, Evilynn, Grace, Lucas, Caleb, Joey, Gabriela, great-grandchildren Marissa and Layla, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Joseph Gamboa, Justin Shull, Thomas Hinojosa, Carlos Estrada, Joseph Villarreal, and Erik Gonzalez.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Ernesto Villarreal, George Jacquez, Martin Hinojosa, Joe Villarreal, and Hugo Cascos.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at Funeraria del Angel Buena Vista from 12 pm - 9 pm, with the recitation of the Holy rosary at 7 pm. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 from 8 am - 9 am with a Funeral Mass at 10 am at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Brownsville with a burial and Military Honors to follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery at 2 pm in Mission, Texas.
