Jose "Poncho" Zamora was 90 years old. He passed away on May 31, 2022 at Edinburg Regional Hospital. He was born and raised in Brownsville Tx., but resided in Monte Alto, Texas for the past 12 yrs. He was Korean War Era Veteran. He loved cooking out, raising animals, playing his guitar and singing.
Jose is survived by his wife, Maria Elvia Zamora; his son Adolfo Zamora (Marcel); his daughter Christine Zamora-Flores (Veronica Mears); his daughter Alicia Garcia (Mike); his son Alfonso Zamora (Dalia); his son Arnoldo Zamora; his daughter Amanda Salazar Sr. (Abel); his daughter Amalia Vasquez (Jose D.); his son Alfredo Zamora (Veronica); his son Abelardo Zamora; and his son Alejandro Zamora (Noelia); his sister Raquel Ramos.
He is also survived by 33 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jose was preceded in death by his daughter Amelia Zamora †, his son Alberto Zamora † and his son Armando Zamora † (Alma); his father Adolfo Zamora † and his mother Juanita C. Mata †; his grandson Shanon Zamora †; his brother Alfredo Zamora.
A visitation for Jose will be held Tuesday, June 7, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM with a rosary at 7:00 PM in Chapel of Peace at Funeraria del Angel Buena Vista, 125 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, Texas 78521. A chapel service will occur Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at 12:00 PM in Chapel of Peace, 125 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, Texas 78521. Followed by a burial at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4464 Old Port Isabel Road, Brownsville, TX.
Serving as pallbearers are Arnie Rodriguez, Jesus Flores, Bradley Hargis, Martin Castillo, Joel Perez, Joe Fusco, Abelardo Zamora and Alfredo Zamora Jr.
