Smiley, was a devoted Catholic who was a very good cook, loved BBqing, enjoyed fishing and playing chess. He also loved going to the gym, but most of all he loved his motorcycle the most. Ismael, was a National chess player who graduated from Idea Frontier and was a freshman who attended UTRGV. Smiley, was currently working at Bubba's 33 and previously worked at Whataburger and at the Vermillion Restaurant.
Smiley is survived by his mother Irma Hernandez, who obtained a bachelor's degree and his father Felipe Cervantes, who obtained an Associates degree; his sister Monica Cervantes and his sister Keila Cervantes; his grandfather Francisco Hernandez (Irma Hernandez) and his grandmother Maria Cervantes.
A visitation for Smiley will be held Sunday, February 18, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM with a Rosary at 7:00 PM in Chapel of Peace at Funeraria del Angel Buena Vista, 125 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, Texas 78521. A funeral mass will be held Monday, February 19, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 1218 E Jefferson St, Brownsville, TX 78520. Followed by a burial at 11:00 AM at Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, Texas 78521.
Serving as pallbearers are Gael Montoya, Benny Candanoza, Victor Valle, Eric Rodriguez, Ramy Ramirez, Alex Montes, Juan Cervantes and Sergio Lopez.
