He graduated high school from Brownsville High School and worked several jobs growing experience in the transportation business. His strong work ethic and desire to take care of his family led to him enlisting in the Army at the age of 24. Inez was a proud Veteran that loved his country. He enjoyed to work and retired after a long career in the transportation business as a truck driver. He loved spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. In the summer time he would teach his children how to swim, how to fix cars, and he loved to teach them how to build bikes. Inez was a kind man that helped those in need. Along with his wife of 65 years, Inez enjoyed having company and sharing a good barbecue. Inez was a story teller, he loved to joke with everybody. My father's life is a collection of many stories that were shared with his wife and children.
"The Oak Tree"
A mighty wind blew night and day It stole the oak tree's leaves away,
Then snapped its boughs and pulled its bark until the oak was tired and stark
But still the oak tree held its ground while other trees fell all around
The weary wind gave up and spoke. "How can you still be standing Oak?"
The oak tree said, "I know that you can break each branch of mine in two,
Carry every leaf away, shake my limbs, and make me sway.
But I have roots stretched in the earth, growing stronger since my birth,
You'll never touch them, for you see, They are the deepest part of me.
Until today, I wasn't sure of just how much I could endure,
But now I've found, with thanks to you, I'm stronger than I ever knew"
