He was preceded in death by his parents Jose and Magdalena Hernandez; two brothers, Joel and
Manuel; and sister, Josefina. He was widowed by his first wife Sara Hernandez, together they had five
children, Eva (Erik) McGee, Norma Linda (Antonio) Hernandez, and Blanca Yselda Hernandez, Daniel
(Elvira) Hernandez Jr., Jose Luis “Joey” Hernandez. He is also preceded in death by his wife Delma A.
Hernandez and step son Theodore Ayala, and is survived by their two sons, Juan Gabriel “Gaybe”
(Brenda) Hernandez, Joseph (Mary) Hernandez. He was a loving grandfather to fourteen grandchildren;
fourteen great-grandchildren. He is survived by his sister, Noemi “Lupe” Hernandez; and brother, Noe
Hernandez.
He retired from the Brownsville Navigation District after over 30 years of service. He was an active
member at Templo Bethel for over 50 years. Where he touched and uplifted many lives with his strong
passion for the Lord as a minister, royal ranger’s leader and mentor. He shared and taught this passion to
his daughters, sons and grandchildren.
He was ultimately a loving father, brother, uncle, and spiritual leader.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 12, 2016 from 12:00pm to 9:00pm with a prayer service at 7:00pm at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista. Visitation will follow Saturday, August 13, 2016 from 8:00am- 9:30am at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista. Church Service will held Saturday, August 13, 2016 at 10:00am at Templo Bethel 2965 Tampico St with an entombment to follow at Buena Vista Mausoleum
