He was born March 29, 1949 in New Bedford, Massachusetts, and came to Brooksville eight years ago from East Freetown, Massachusetts. Bill loved his country and was a Vietnam War veteran who proudly served in the United States Army and continued his service in the United States Army Reserves for a total of 33 years before his retirement. He worked as Chief Operator at a water treatment plant and was a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church. He loved reading, gardening, bicycling, weekly adventures to estate sales and collecting treasures, but most of all he loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his father, William H. Handy; brother, Glen Handy; and sisters, Priscilla Pietrass and Candance Charest. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Suzanne Handy; his daughters and sons-in-law, Sarah & Michael Boehler of East Freetown, Massachusetts, Robyn & Kevin DaSilva of Acushnet, Massachusetts, and Barbara Handy-Baro & David Baro of Hudson, New Hampshire; his mother, Barbara E. Handy of Lakeville, Massachusetts; sisters, Patsy Hathaway, Virginia Glass, Susan Wales, Mary Monjeau, Deborah Blaszies, and Sally Giguiere; and grandchildren, Grace Boehler, Luke Boehler, Kate Boehler, Emma Handy, Emeric DaSilva, and Archer DaSilva.
