Rodney Stephen Peddrick

Rodney Steven Peddrick passed on the morning of July 19 after a short illness. He was a resident of Heritage Pines in Hudson, Florida.

Known to all by his middle name, Steve was born in 1941 to Miriam Sanderson Peddrick and Rodney Lathwell Peddrick. He grew up in Delaware and graduated from Smyrna High School. A gifted student, Steve was awarded an academic scholarship to Bowdoin College in Maine. He majored in English, enjoyed lacrosse, and was a member of the U.S Army Reserved Officers’ Training Corp (ROTC). 

Steve pursued an eclectic life that took him to a variety of destinations. After graduation he married Janice Carlisle and was stationed at the U.S. Army camp in Augsburg, Germany. He went on to attend the army’s jungle school in Panama, then was deployed to Vietnam as a Captain of a combat platoon. After serving, Steven returned to the US and lived in Texas and Virginia before settling back in Delaware, where he pursued a career in industrial purchasing. 

That is where he met the love of his life, Andora, who would be his wife for 50 years. After a short stint in Connecticut, Steve and Andora became part owners and full-time managers of the Prospect of Whitby Hotel in remote North Caicos in the Turks and Caicos Islands. Having spent almost two years snorkeling, fishing, boating, swimming, and hosting guests from around the world, Steve and Andora returned to the mainland and settled in Bluebell, Pennsylvania, where they built a house near Andora’s family. 

The couple had one more stop in Erie, Pennsylvania, before they settled in Hudson, Florida, where they have lived for 20 years, enjoying golf, tennis, and community theater.

Steve is survived by his wife Andora, his daughter Wendy Peddrick Sears, his son Rodney Paul Peddrick, and five grandchildren.

Inurnment will be at 11:00am, Thursday, August 11, 2022 at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida.
