Charlotte Ann Kiefer

Charlotte Ann Kiefer, born on November 11, 1945, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2023, surrounded by family and friends.

Born in Dade City to Effie “Irene” and Charles H. Batten Sr., Charlotte grew up in the Spring Lake community and later resided in Dade City. She was the beloved wife of 40 years to Theodore “Ted” Kiefer; cherished mother of Joseph (Condisa) Welbourn, Robert (Courtnee) Welbourn, and Theodore “Teddy” Kiefer Jr.; loving stepmother of Emily (Eli) Bourie and Kyle (Marcy) Kiefer; and sister of Charles “Buddy” Batten, predeceased John Batten, Shirley Price, predeceased Robert Batten, Wayne Batten, and William “Dale” Batten; grandmother of 15; great-grandmother of 4. Charlotte is preceded in death by baby Christopher Glen Kiefer.

Reflecting on the memories with Charlotte one can’t help but remember her unmatched work ethic, zest, and spirited “gusto” for life. Be it founding and running 3 successful retail businesses, serving multiple terms as President of Dade City Chamber of Commerce, entertaining, decorating, gardening, and political campaigning. She had a huge caring, generous heart that she bestowed on others. Charlotte wholeheartedly loved and supported her husband and children unconditionally with grace and humor. She loved spreading joy to friends, family, and strangers through her love of cooking and believed her culinary gift should be shared whenever possible.

Charlotte always believed in immaculately dressing for success with a coiffed style always at the ready to take on the world, anyone or anything, with a great commanding presence and confidence. She leaves a wonderful legacy of a self-starting lady with unflappable work ethic and morality.

She will be sorely missed by all who had the opportunity to have known her. “

A Visitation for family and friends will be held at 10:30am, Friday, September 1, 2023 at Merritt Funeral Home Brooksville, 2 South Lemon Avenue, Brooksville FL, where Services begin at 12:00pm. Burial will follow at the Johnson Batten Cemetery.
