August "Herb" Getz

Herb was born in Madison, New Jersey to August H. Goetz and Marian Birdsell Goetz on July 4th, 1928. Herb married Jane D’Andrea Rolph in 2009 in Brooksville, Florida.

Herb was a longtime resident of Morris County in New Jersey. He was a naval veteran, and he retired and moved to Hernando County in 2001. Herb was past Commander in the American Legion Post 59 in Morristown, New Jersey. He was devoted to his church, his country, and his family.

He is survived by his wife, Jane Getz; his two daughters and one son. He had a large, loving family with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A Visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:00-10:30am, Monday, November 18, 2024 at Merritt Funeral Home Brooksville (2 South Lemon Avenue, Brooksville, FL 34601). Following the Visitation, a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am at St. Anthony the Abbot Catholic Church (20428 Cortez Boulevard, Brooksville, FL 34601), with Reverend Paul Pecchie officiating.

Herb’s final resting place will be Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
