Beloved brother, uncle, and friend, Tom will be remembered for his understated wit and his devotion to the neighborhood of Park Slope, Brooklyn where he was born and lived all his life. He was a member of Community Board B6 and active in the Park Slope YMCA, Methodist Hospital, and the Brooklyn Public Library. He was a cherished member of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, and a member of the Park Slope Civic Council. He served in the U.S. Army. Tom was also an avid baseball fan and follower of The New York Mets, whose facts and trivia he was more than happy to share with you.
Thomas Miskel was born on February 25, 1944, to parents Helen and Thomas J. Miskel. He graduated from St. Francis College in Brooklyn and worked on Wall Street.
Tom is survived by his loyal sister, Helena Miskel, and by his nephews Robert Fois, Mark Fois and his wife Pam, Michael Fois, and his niece Laura Bosley (nee Fois) and her husband James. He was predeceased by his beloved older sister, Mary Fois (nee Miskel).
A visitation for Tom will be held Friday, March 31, 2023 from 4:00pm-7:00pm at Joseph G. Duffy Funeral Home, 255 Ninth Street, Brooklyn, NY 11215. A mass of Christian Burial will occur Saturday, April 1, 2023 at 9:30am at St. Saviour Church, 611 Eighth Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11215. A committal service will immediately follow at Green-Wood Cemetery, 500 25th St, Brooklyn, NY 11232.
