Patrick J. Smith

Patrick Smith was a proud son of Windsor Terrace Brooklyn. He was born and raised across from his beloved Prospect Park, in the same neighborhood, in the same building where his parents and grandparents lived. He attended Holy Name School, graduated from Edward R. Murrow High School, and attended John Jay College of Criminal Justice.

Patrick was born with an aptitude for music. From Bobby Darin and Frank Sinatra to the Beatles and U2, Patrick had an encyclopedic knowledge of lyrics and an incredible singing voice from a young age. In his teens, he learned to play the guitar and soon began composing his own songs. As a founding member of The Heaves, Patrick entertained many with his heartfelt lyrics, soulful voice and charismatic stage presence.

In his youth, Patrick was active in his community and his parish. He coached Little League for The Holy Name Father’s Guild, was a founding member of The Holy Name Ensemble and a long-time member of The Knights of Columbus.

Patrick was truly one of a kind. He had a hilarious wit that could crack a joke and leave the room in stiches and a sentimental heart that could compose a song and bring the room to tears. Despite his personal struggles through the years, Patrick was never lost for a quip, a story, a one-liner, or a song for the multitude of friends who loved him more than he knew.

Patrick is pre-deceased by his beloved parents, Sally and Ray, and his brother Michael. He is survived by his sisters, Sharon and Kathleen, brother-in-law Pat Carrano, nephews, Patrick and Michael, nieces Sara, Elizabeth and Samantha, and great nephew and niece, Mikey and Alaya.
