Matt was a gentleman.  He always made sure I made it home ok, and dedicated his life to looking after his father and mother.  He was a fixture in the neighborhood and like many other beautiful facets of our lives in old Brooklyn, should never be taken for granted.

Hard to believe your are not with us anymore.  We might not have seen you often, but you were always in our hearts.  Rest in Peace.

Growing up on strong place Matthew was like a big brother to me and my sister's and my best friend. I have so many fun and happy memories with Matthew from my childhood. We would nag him to drive us around, and to the City in his tan cougar(I think it was) until he gave in.  He was one of the good guys! That I was blessed to have known. What can  I say except we grew up together. Always enjoyed coming back to strong place and chatting with you about the good old days we shared.  I know you were always there to help anybody.  Matthew I will miss you and I know your Mom and Dad  will  be there for you.

We’re so sad to hear the news of Matt passing. He was always so cheerful and friendly, ready to  chew the fat or do a favor for a neighbor. We are grateful to have known him and he will be missed.

We moved to Strong Place in 2020. Even though we’ve only known Matthew a few years, we would  see and talk to him almost every single day on the block. He truly loved and adored our kids and dog, and would have done anything for them. Through this, his big heart and true character shown through. There was never a moment he wasn’t offering to help or just keep everyone safe on the block. He will be greatly missed and there already feels like a void when going outside. Rest in peace, Matthew! -Hinchey family and Josie too of course

Matthew, I knew you when you were born. Your cousins were all excited; another baby to fight over! We all grew up together, and that counts, you know. We will miss you.

My sincere condolences to Jeanie and  Joseph, Mathew was the age of my children and MaryLou and I would be on Strong Place watching our kids.  These  are precious memories I have of the Joe, Marylou and the children. RIP Mathew and I know Mom and Dad are waiting with open arms.  🙏🏼🙏🏼
