I just discovered that Mr. Steve passed away. My sincerest condolences to you and your family.
I had to fly to Boston last summer on business, and as a first-time visitor, I asked my plane seatmates for their favorite local places to visit.  The gentleman next to me mentioned visiting Fenway Park, and told me that I HAD to meet Mr. Steve, and get him to tell a few stories.  
Mr. Steve was in the museum at the end of my tour.  We had a lovely chat, and FYI - he made me retake this photo, because all of his World Series rings weren't visible.  :)
He was a charming man, and I will tell my nieces, nephews and any future children I have about him, his love for the Red Sox and his stories.
I realize it's been a while now since he passed away, but I believe that folks who made an impact on your life should still be honored regardless of time.  May God be with you as you continue to adjust to his loss.

I did not see Steve for over 60 years.
He lived at 90 Corey Rd. and I at 88.
We belonged to the Brighton Cardinals (local neighborhood sports club).  He proceeded me to Boston Latin before he went off to Dartmouth. He was 2 years older, and in those days that was a big gap.  My memory of him, however, was that he was a class guy, who loved playing baseball(as I) and especially the Red Sox(as I). As my memory serves he also married a girl from my class at grammar school that all of us thought was the greatest catch than any baseball he ever caught.

It's hard to explain.  I only knew Steve for less than a year, since April of this year as a new Fenway Tour Guide.  If I saw Steve at the start of the day,pulling up in his car outside the Team Store, the day was made instantly better. If I ended a tour and rounded into the Nations Archives and Steve was there, asking how it went, how I was, the tour was a success.  I loved the man's jokes, his delivery was pitch perfect, he had the crowd in the palm of his hand.  I made the mistake once of taking his joke series, ...used to work in an orange juice factory, but couldn't concentrate...used to work in the garment industry but his work was so-so,,, , went home and came up with what I thought were new ones of the same type, came back the next week and tried them on Steve - oh I know those already!  I loved the man's humanity, his genuineness.  I consider myself lucky to have known him.  God rest his soul.

I only got to know Steve in the last six months of his life when I began working on the Fenway tour staff. He charmed everyone with his jokes and stories. I just want you to know that I really enjoyed getting to know him and having him for a colleague. He made a difference in my life. Thanks for sharing him with us. He is missed at the ball park every day. Go Sox!

Thank you Steve for making me feel at home as a tourguide from day #1.  You always had a smile on and a great sense of humor.  You'll be missed but never forgotten.  --JoshR

Steve Meterparel was the best baseball coach a kid could ever have....He was a wonderful man - and I know he'll be missed by an entire generation of little league'rs. Jon, Lynn and the entire Meterparel Family, I am terribly sorry for your loss.
