Slater, Shirley (Silver) of Palm Beach, FL, was entered into rest Sunday, November 5, 2017. Beloved wife of the late Alvin J. Slater. Devoted mother of Richard Slater and Kenneth & his wife Ellen Slater. Loving sister of the late Ethel Chrein. Cherished grandmother of Samuel & his wife Jessica Slater, Jacqueline & her husband Simon Whitten. Adored great-grandmother of James Slater. Services will be at Temple Emanuel, 385 Ward Street, Newton on Wednesday, November 8 at 11 AM followed by interment at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham Street, Sharon. Memorial observance will be held following services at The Four Seasons Condominiums, 220 Boylston Street, Boston until 9 PM with Minyan services beginning at 7:30 PM, Thursday 10-1 PM and 5-9 PM with Minyan services beginning at 7:30 PM. Memorial observance will continue on Friday from 10-1 PM. Expressions of sympathy in Shirley’s memory may be made to Temple Emanuel, 385 Ward Street, Newton, MA 02459 or the Alvin J. and Shirley Slater Chair in Jewish Holocaust Studies at Boston University.
