Michael Howard Satter, age 71, of Framingham, passed away on October 7, 2024, after an unfair six-month fight with cancer.
Michael was raised in Newton, where he attended Memorial Spaulding Elementary and Meadowbrook Junior High before graduating in 1971 from Newton South High School. In 1979, he moved to Framingham and never left.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 47 years, Marjie (Rosen); his two children, Dan Satter and Stacy Jagher (and her husband, Justin); and the brightest lights of his life, his six grandchildren -- Magnolia, Nova, Lula, and Russell Satter; and Juliet and Avery Jagher -- who bestowed upon him his proudest title: Papa.
Michael made friends easily and eagerly every step of life, whether they were neighbors, classmates in school, customers from work, owners and employees of businesses he would frequent, or members of the Focus on Fitness gym to which he belonged and religiously attended for the last quarter century.
A lifelong sports fan, he navigated Fenway Park and the old Boston Garden by memory with ease, including the best places to park nearby for an expedited egress. Other hobbies included maintaining a meticulously clean car (inside and outside) and calling the customer service departments of The Boston Globe and Boston Herald in exasperation about why their deliverers couldn’t consistently hit the stairs with their errant throws.
Michael was predeceased by his mother, Pauline Satter; his father, Jack Satter; and two older siblings: a brother, Donald, and sister, Lorrie.
His funeral will be held at Temple Beth Am, 300 Pleasant Street, Framingham on Thursday, October 10 at 11:00 a.m. with interment at Beit Olam East Cemetery, Wayland. A reception will be held at Framingham Country Club following the interment until 4:00 p.m. Shiva will be announced at the service.
In lieu of flowers, his loved ones humbly request that you consider donating to the Mass General Cancer Center at www.massgeneral.org/cancer-center so that dreaded disease gets what’s coming for it sooner than later. And in his memory, please strike up a conversation with a stranger and/or do a favor for a friend or loved one, the type of kind acts that Michael so often was wont to do.
