Marilyn F. Robbins, 99, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2024. She was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Lotte Fleschner; husband, Milton Robbins; son, Bruce (Linda) Robbins; and sister, Bette (Byron) Lerner. Keeping her memory close are her daughter, Ann (Peter Kadetsky) Stark; grandchildren, Laura (Jonah Kaplan) Kadetsky, Gregory (Kristen) Kadetsky, Elizabeth Kadetsky, and Serena Robbins; and great-grandchildren, Abraham Kaplan, Abigail Kadetsky, and Sascha Kadetsky.
Marilyn was born in Brooklyn, NY. She met her future husband of 73 years while at Mount Holyoke College and left college when they married. Both her children were born in New York City and in several years the family moved to Metuchen, NJ. After working for several years in an office, Marilyn resumed her college education at Douglass College of Rutgers University and received her degree with a major in mathematics in 1960. She was hired by Bell Telephone Laboratories as a computer programmer in the Space Physics Department where she soon oversaw the computer facility until retirement, also spending a year in Washington DC in 1964 working on a joint project with NASA on telecommunication satellites. She and Milton traveled extensively across the country and around the world citing Australia as their favorite adventure. After retiring, they settled in Laguna Woods, CA, where Marilyn volunteered teaching computer skills at a local school, participated in art and lecture classes, attended concerts and theater, and played tennis and golf. Marilyn most recently resided in Chestnut Hill, MA, where she enjoyed visits from loved ones and often played Rummikub with friends.
Marilyn will be remembered for her intelligence and grace, as a person ahead of her time, and with profound love for family and friends.
