Leah Terese Greenspan

Leah Terese Greenspan of Watertown, formerly of Brookline, died peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 of medical complications from a long illness. She was 28 years old.

Born and raised in Brookline, she attended the Edward Devotion School and graduated from Brookline High. She attended UMass Dartmouth and later became a licensed esthetician and massage therapist. Leah had recently entered a program at Lawrence Memorial Regis College with the goal of becoming a nurse.

So many words come to mind when describing Leah: loving, compassionate, funny and beautiful come to mind, but she was so much more than adjectives. She touched people with her eyes, could show the depth of her humanity in a glance, heal and soothe with her professional massages and made those around her laugh longer and feel their feelings more acutely.

Leah loved movies, the scarier the better and always wanted to share them with her sisters Hannah and Amy. Being with them was one of the great joys of her life and when they were together, it felt like a circus parade.

She was in the midst of becoming a nurse when her life was cut short. Had she been able to finish her studies and become an RN, all of her friends, family and especially her instructors felt she would have been a fabulous nurse, a loving and healing force. Unfortunately, that never got to happen.

Leah is survived by her parents, Mr. Stacy Greenspan and Dr. Susan Schilling of Brookline; her sisters, Hannah Greenspan Vander Molen and Amy R. Greenspan; her partner, Mike DeMarco; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services took place Aug. 15, 2022. Interment was in Brookline Walnut Hill Cemetery.
