Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Stanetsky Memorial Chapels, at 475 Washington Street Canton, MA 02021. Burial will follow at Sharon Memorial Park at 40 Dedham Street, Sharon, MA 02067.
Helen Berman, the oldest of three children, was born in Boston, MA to Benjamin and Anna (Fleischman) Berman on 02/20/1921.
Helen attended Dorchester High School for Girls in Boston, MA. She studied nursing at The Boston City Hospital School of Nursing and later obtained a baccalaureate degree in nursing from Boston College.
In 1942, during WWII, Helen enlisted in the Army Air Force upon graduation from nursing school. She honorably earned the rank of First Lieutenant. She continued working as a Nurse until 2000.
Helen married the love of her life, Charles Lawrence Abrahams in 1951. A leader in her family, she was everyone’s confidant, a joy filled optimist, and an effervescent beacon of love, warmth and compassion.
Helen is survived by her children Stephen Abrahams and Janie Goldberg, grandchildren Cheri Cohen, Kenneth and Zachary Goldberg, their spouses Jeffrey Cohen and Maryna Goldberg, great grandchildren Michael and Jason Cohen, Macy and Marni Goldberg and Michael Vyner, Solomon Goldberg and Elan Goldberg, sister Evelyn Laut and a number of devoted nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be given to Trustbridge hospice, any Veteran organization or Boston Medical Center (Boston City Hospital).
