November 7, 1933 – December 3, 2024
Barbara Joan Korff, formerly of Marblehead, MA, and Aventura, FL, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at the home of her son Robert in Newton, MA, on December 3, 2024, just weeks after celebrating her 91st birthday surrounded by family.
Born in Lynn, MA, Barbara was the first child of Rose and Morris Swartz. She grew up in Lynn and attended Lynn English High School and Boston University.
Barbara dedicated much of her life to raising her four sons and later enjoyed careers as both a real estate and travel agent. She was an avid card player, mastering bridge and enjoying games of canasta and mahjong with friends. Her sharp wit, sense of humor, and love of Boston sports—especially the Red Sox and Patriots—endeared her to everyone she met.
Above all, Barbara cherished her family. She was the loving mother of Jay Korff, Robert Korff (and his late wife Marjorie), David Korff (and his late wife Cathy), and Michael & Brenda Korff. She was the adored grandmother of Amanda & Youssef, Daniel & Juliana, Erica, Ricki & Adam, Jennifer, and Zachary, and a proud great-grandmother to Max. Barbara was also the dear sister of the late Richard Swartz.
Barbara’s final year was filled with immense gratitude for the loving care and advocacy provided by Robert’s partner, Rawmery Costa.
The family invites friends and loved ones to celebrate Barbara’s life at a service on Sunday, December 8, at 1 p.m. at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 475 Washington Street, Canton, MA. Interment will follow at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham Street, Sharon, MA, with shiva observed afterward at Robert’s home in Newton.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Barbara’s memory to the Marjorie E. Korff PACT Program at Massachusetts General Hospital. https://www.mghpact.org/donate
Barbara’s warmth, humor, and unwavering love for her family will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
