Raymond graduated from Rufus King High School in 1962. He ran track and field events, including championship events. After graduating high school, he attended Central State University, where he continued track and field and majored in elementary education. He graduated and earned his bachelor’s degree in 1966. Upon graduating, he was recruited by Milwaukee Public Schools and hired as an elementary school teacher. Raymond later earned his master's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1973.
Raymond’s career in education was marked by an unwavering dedication. After teaching for five years at Wilbur Wright Middle School, he transitioned into a role as a guidance counselor at Longfellow School and Roosevelt Middle School of the Arts. His passion and commitment were recognized, and he was promoted to Assistant Principal at Roosevelt Middle School of the Arts in 1988. In 1992, he became the principal at 37th Street Elementary School, a position he held until his retirement in 1998.
In 1968, Raymond pledged his commitment to Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated; a commitment he upheld for over 55 years. His service was not only dedicated, but also impactful. He served on various committees for fraternity events and was the recipient of several awards and recognitions acknowledging his significant contributions to his brotherhood and community.
Raymond met the love of his life, Patsy Robinson, and they were united in holy matrimony at Canaan Baptist Church. Raymond was the proud father of five wonderful children: Raquel, Janine, Ronald, Romondo, and Roshan.
He accepted Christ at an early age while attending St. Mark A.M.E. Church. After marriage, he attended Canaan Baptist Church. After relocating to Birmingham, AL, he joined St. John Baptist Church (Dr. Carl Johnson of Dolomite, AL).
