Mr. Griffith was born December 18, 1940, in Chattanooga, TN. He grew up in McMinnville, TN, and after marrying his high school sweetheart, moved to Nashville where he began a career in retail shoe sales. Ron delighted children in the shoe department at Petway-Revis in Green Hills for years. He worked for Karl’s Shoes in downtown Nashville and Brentwood Place and also for Cook & Love Shoes at Green Hills Mall. During his career, Ron formed many close relationships with his customers and colleagues. When he was not working, he enjoyed home improvement projects and was always busy working to improve his home. After a stroke forced him to leave his career, his positive outlook on life never faltered. He joined the Green Hills YMCA senior exercise group, quickly earning the nickname of “Candy Man” by bringing candy to each session to share with everyone. He loved finding deals throughout the year and showering his friends and family with gifts. When his health further declined in recent months, he moved to a nursing home and continued sharing his candy and quick wit with the residents and staff.
Mr. Griffith is survived by his devoted wife, Helen Griffith, of Nashville, TN; his daughter Renea (Mike) Stasaski of Keller, TX; grandchildren Katherine Stasaski of Albany, CA; Dennis Stasaski of Austin, TX; and numerous loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Lou Griffith Graham of McMinnville, TN; brothers Carson Cantrell of Muncie, IN; Alton Cantrell of St. Petersburg, FL; and sister Shirley Rosbury of Michigan.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, December 27. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children (online donation) or your favorite charity.
