Robert Allan Patterson, 54, affectionally known as “Bobby” passed away unexpectedly on February 7, 2024. Bobby resided in New Orleans, LA for 18 years, prior to making Nashville, Tennessee his home for the past 36 years.
Bobby was born January 22, 1970, in Metairie, LA to Barbara Jean Patterson and the late Johnny Bryan Patterson Sr. He was the youngest of 10 children of Johnny Patterson, Sr. It wasn’t always easy being referred to as the baby of the family, but Bobby’s unique humor was admired and always shined bright through his infectious smile and laugh. He would often declare to the rest of the gang, “It took 10 tries to achieve perfection!” Bobby so closely resembled his dad that he was often referred to as his “mini me” through the years. Oh, how he loved his POP!
Above all of Bobby’s accomplishments and adventures, his 2 boys Noah (Noah Bug) and Nate (Nater) were without a doubt his pride and joy. He was so very proud of the smart, kind people they are and would share how he couldn’t wait to see the men they would become. His boys were his heart and he loved them with his whole being. Spending time with his boys was precious to him and he cherished the bond they shared. Bobby’s unconditional love for Noah and Nate was unbreakable. Bobby was always quick to let you know how much he cared for and loved them and now those memories are priceless. Being their father made him a better person. Noah and Nate were the embodiment of love and joy in Bobby’s life.
Fishing & hunting were also very close to his heart and Bobby made sure to share his love for nature with his sons. He taught his boys how to hunt and fish during their trips and adventures. His passion for the great outdoors began in Covington, LA as a youngster along with his nephews, Johnny Patterson III, the late Jess Patterson, and very likely Tracy Ann Patterson, who wasn’t going to be left out! They were a tight knit crew, so close in age that they were all more like a brothers and sisters. Bobby’s love for his nieces and nephews was very apparent, as he was quick to express that to them. Even though they lived far apart, they remained very close throughout Bobby’s life.
Bobby gained his strong work ethic from his dad and brothers. At age 13 he began working in his dad’s plumbing business in New Orleans, LA. He thrived in all his training, and even went on to become a Licensed Master Plumber which, of course, made his whole family so proud and earned an extra special grin from his POP. Over his years in Tennessee, Bobby worked for several plumbing companies furthering his knowledge and expertise. Bobby was always good at making friends and keeping in touch with friends & coworkers along the way. He loved his time with his last employer, Jewell Mechanical, in Nashville, Tennessee as their Plumbing Service Manager for the past 6 years.
Bobby’s church home when he moved to Tennessee was Christ Church in Nashville and although he attended other churches, Christ Church remained his home church and where he was baptized. His faith was always very important to him, and he leaned on God for peace in situations and health issues that arose, as they do in life. Bobby could be tough when the situation called for it, but his kindness and love will be remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Bobby is preceded in death by his dad, Johnny B Patterson, Sr, his grandparents, Harlin & Maxine Hines, his brothers, Johnny B Patterson Jr and Michael J Patterson, his nephews, Cameron J Patterson, Jess M Patterson and a beloved sister-in-law, Cynthia Ann Casey Patterson.
Bobby is survived by his 2 children, Noah Patterson, 20 and Nate Patterson, 13, of Hendersonville, TN, in the home they share with their mother, Shelly Patterson; his mother, Barbara Jean Patterson; and siblings, Shelley Wilcox, Tami Keith (Jeff), Ricky Patterson (Marian), Jimmy Patterson, Randy Patterson (Tracy), Jeanne Basso (John), and Larry Patterson. He leaves behind 27 nieces and nephews, 28 great nieces and nephews, coworkers, and countless friends.
We are so thankful to know he is now living his best life in the loving arms of Jesus, his Lord and Savior, but we will all miss him so very much.
Visitation will be held Saturday, March 9th, beginning at 10am with a Celebration of Life Service at 11am, at Christ Church, in the Wallace Chapel, 15354 Old Hickory Blvd., Nashville, TN 37211.
