James Juan Whitehead, 87, passed away peacefully with his wife and six children by his side on December 12, 2018, after battling Alzheimer's for eight years. Juan graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1954, with a degree in chemistry. He spent his entire career with Chevron retiring as general manager of the Asphalt division where he was also Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Asphalt Institute. Juan loved to golf, fish, hunt and most of all, loved being with his family. He also served many years in the Baptist church as a deacon, where he also taught Sunday school.
Juan is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Maude Whitehead and brother, Gene Whitehead. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Elizabeth Ann, six children; Whitey (Jami) Whitehead, Robby (Suzanne) Whitehead , Ginny (Tony) Maher, Willy (Wendy) Whitehead, Amy Sayne and Joey (Cyndi) Whitehead, 17 grandchildren; Clay (Hanah), Clint, Jason (Stephanie), Amanda (Chase), Alan (Susanna), Chase (Stephanie), Dillon (Porschea), Olivia (Josh), Allison, Aaron (Leigha), Jake, McKenzie, Jackson, Jacy, Anna Grace, Rileyann, Marybeth, three step grandchildren; Sophie, Bailey, Rylie, eight great grandkids; Lucy, Jude, Ansley, Jack, Tristan, Hunter, Collins and Jack, and two sisters; Beth Whitehead and Rosemary (Bill) Colvin. A service will be held on Friday December 21st at the First Baptist Church in Jackson, Alabama. Visitation will be from 1:30pm - 3:00pm, with a memorial service immediately following the visitation. In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions can be made to the charity of your choice.
