Steve was born October 11, 1934, in Jenkins, Kentucky, to Jesse and Florence Holcomb. He passed away Sunday, February 9, 2014, at the age of 79. Steve is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Vandegrift Holcomb; two sons, Stephen Douglas Holcomb (wife Leann) and James Burton Holcomb; step-children, Kimberly Clare Slifer and Ronald Raymond Slifer; grand-children, Jesse Burton Holcomb, Jaden Spencer Holcomb and Madison Elise Slifer.
Steve will be reunited with his loving parents, father, Jesse and mother, Florence.
Steve graduated from Western Kentucky State College (Western Kentucky University) with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry in 1958. Steve served in the United States Army as a First Lieutenant from 1958 to 1964. He retired from Air Products after 40 years of service. Steve enjoyed golf, reading, political debate, gardening and men’s bible study. Steve and Pat are long term members of Harpeth Hills Church of Christ.
Steve cared deeply for his family and will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at six o’clock in the evening on Wednesday, the 12th of February, 2014 with visitation held two hours prior to the service. Minister Chris Smith will be officiating. A Graveside Service will be held at one o’clock in the afternoon on Thursday, the 13th of February, at Gamaliel Cemetery in Gamaliel, Kentucky. Pallbearers are Ken Neil, Scott Anderson, Chris Grimaldi, Stacey Barnes, Chris Satterfield and Jack Lancio.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Thomas Foundation, Dan Rudy Cancer Center Fund.
