James Monroe Hay, a 45-year resident of Franklin, TN was born in Trenton, TN on February 12, 1934 to James M. Hay and Stella Powell Hay. Mr. Hay was a graduate of Bradford High School in Bradford, TN. He was married for nearly 62 years to Ilma Brasher Hay. James is survived by Mrs. Hay, as well as his three sons, Mark (Dawn) of Lebanon, TN (formerly of Napa, CA); Gary (Michelle) of Boulder City, NV; and Robert Hay (Janel Rollins) of Smyrna, TN; grandchildren, Josh (Ciera) of Las Vegas, NV; Abby of Reno, NV; and Bryce of Boulder City, NV. James was able to meet his beautiful great-granddaughter, Rylan (parents Josh and Ciera) for the first time the day before he passed, which brought him untold joy. After high school, James went to electronics school in Louisville, KY and was subsequently hired by RCA Corp. to work at Cape Canaveral in FL on the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo space missions. James was transferred to Brevard, NC where he worked for the Rosman Tracking Station, then went on to work for Telex Corp. building and repairing computers after moving back to TN. Where he retired in Franklin. He could pretty much fix anything with a power cord or a battery, had a razor-sharp wit, and loved a good joke. He enjoyed tinkering at his workbench, traveling, and spending time with his grandchildren. He and his wife were longtime members of Epworth United Methodist Church in Franklin, TN. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Epworth United Methodist Church or to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Disease research. Visitation with the family will be from 4 - 7 p.m. on Friday, April 13, at Brentwood Roesch-Patton Funeral Home at 9010 Church St. E, Brentwood, TN, 37027. Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 14, at Epworth United Methodist Church at 4340 Arno Rd., Franklin, TN 37064, with visitation at the church one hour prior to the service, interment immediately following at Williamson Memorial Gardens at 3009 Columbia Ave. in Franklin, TN.
