Shirley leaves behind her greatest legacy in her three children: Danette Harris (David), Mark Sigmon (Robin), and Linda Streaker (Paul) as well as six wonderful grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. She dearly loved her grandchildren and great-granddaughter and enjoyed spending time with all of them.
Shirley and Elbert met and fell in love at Eastern High School in Washington, DC. After graduating, Shirley worked for C&P Telephone. She and Elbert were married in 1953 and soon thereafter moved to Connecticut where Elbert served in the U.S. Coast Guard for four years. Returning to Maryland, Shirley was a stay-at-home mom to their children and supported Bergon's electrical-contracting business for many years.
Shirley loved spending time on the beach in Ocean City, Maryland, with her grandchildren and savored hearing all the details of their lives. She loved attending country-music concerts with her children, seeing Elvis in concert many years ago, and dancing to any and all music. Shirley and Elbert always enjoyed hosting gatherings of family and friends at their home and cabin whether for holidays or special occasions...they could make a celebration out of any occasion. From birthdays to superbowl parties to wienie roasts, they always found a reason to bring everyone together to make long-lasting, fun memories for all because their gatherings were full of good food and drinks, games and scavenger hunts, and lots of laughter!
