Sharon C. Steiner

I, Sharon Cecelia Steiner, affectionately known as Aunt Sharon, was the second of three children, born on October 28, 1952, to the late Keith Tracy Steiner and Alice Theresa Clark Steiner. I departed this life on November 13, 2022.

I received my education in the DC Catholic and Public-School systems. While working full time, I completed law classes at the USDA Graduate School, graduating after completing paralegal studies.

After forty years of service, I retired from the Federal Government on February 28, 2014. Twenty-six of those years were at the Department of Defense (DOD)/Department of the Navy (DON): Naval Research Lab, National Naval Medical Center, and The Strategic Systems Program. At these agencies, I enjoyed working as a Contracting Officer, Business Systems Specialist, and Contracts auditor (including traveling) as part of the Inspector General's team. I also worked at the Dept. of HUD., General Services Administration, Veteran's Hospital, and the Broadcasting Board of Governors/Voice of America.

On August 25, 2005, I started working part-time as an usher at the MCI Center which later became the Verizon Center, and now Capitol One Arena. I enjoyed games and entertainment.

I enjoyed conversations with young people. I encouraged them to take advantage of available opportunities and never lose the desire to learn; learning can help make the right choices in life.

I enjoyed researching and gathering information on various topics and people. I enjoyed writing, listening to motivational speakers, traveling, volunteering at multiple organizations, and hand dancing.

I published my first book on September 26, 2021, titled “Steiner’s Simple Grammar Guide”. I was reserved and very meticulous.

I was a longtime parishioner (1991) and Usher (1996) at St. Augustine's African American Catholic Church. Once in a while, I visited other churches.

I am preceded in death by my father, Keith Steiner; sister, Kim Steiner-Jackson. I leave to cherish my memories, my mother, Alice Steiner; two children, Arlethia Spencer and Janita Jones; three grandchildren, Raymond Spencer, III., Jalia Turner, and Makayla Spencer, one great-grandchild, A’myla Butler-Spencer; one sister, Olivia Steiner; One brother-in-law, Conrad Jackson; great aunt, Clarice Clark; nieces, Tamatha Steiner, Shemeika and Ryan; three nephews, Nicholas, Conrad (CJ) and Jordan(Charmae); Host of special nieces, nephews, and cousins. Long-time friends, Adrienne Jackson Lee, Barbara Wilson, Tawanna White, Denise McGoines-Warren, Charlotte Price, Yvonne and Tom Nowlin; Alfred Harding.
