On January 8, 2024 Olivio Sylvester Green was suddenly taken from our midst to live with his Lord. Olivio was born on November 29, 1940 to the late Georgia and Cecil Green in Washington ,DC. he was the eight of eleven children. Olivio was known to many as Ollie or Libby.
Olivio accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Rock Creek Baptist Church in Washington, DC. He attended the D.C. Public Schools and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School on June 17,1959. After graduation he was drafted into the United States Army. Olivio served 4 years and was honorably discharged. He started his career with WRC and NBC TV Channel 4. He worked as a Camera Man, Engineer Technician and a Supply Supervisor and retired in 2022 after 42 years of service. Olivio enjoyed fishing, yardwork, interacting with the neighbors, and watching football games. Olivio served as a block captain with the Citizen Association and would attend the Friday evening Jazz show at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Washington DC. He was a member of the AARP Chapter 939 in Prince George's County.
Olivio married his wife Barbara Monroe,on November 20, 1970 and from this union one son was born Darryl Green.
Olivio is survived by his wife Barbara, son Darryl (Olivia), granddaughter Sydney,grandson Kendell, sister Carolyn Kelley, sisters in law,brother in laws,nieces, nephews, cousins, coworkers at NBC Channel 4 News and host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers,and four sisters.
